Hi Mommas!!!! It's that time of year again where all mommas are on back-to-school mode! I seriously feel like a just sat down to take it easy for summer and here I am now, hustling to get everything in order before school starts!!! You all know I am a planner and I like things done way in advance, but when you're told that you will not be getting your son's class information until the end of August and your son's school starts AT THE END OF AUGUST, you don't really have a choice, but to just let it go and go with the flow (something I'm still learning). So to keep my brain and heart from exploding, Ayden and I decided to do a DIY on how to personalize his backpack for this coming school year. Ayden will be in 1st grade this year (oh my), so that literally means that his back-pack will no longer be just an accesory for him. So to get him involved in the customization process, read the three things we did below! 1. Put thier name on it.I embroidered his back-pack last year so that I can make sure it always came back home. Last year he couldn't spell or read his name, and now he can! To give him extra practice before school started I made him spell out his name with adhesive felt letters that we used on his back-pack this year. He also chose the place on his backpack where we were going to superglue it on. Although, the felt stickers are already adhesive, I wanted to make sure it was extra secured because I know how rough he gets with his backpack! You can also use good ol' SHARPIE to write their name, it doesn't have to be anything fancy. The goal is for other people to know who the back-pack belongs to. You can also put their teacher's last name or even their classroom number on it, just in case they accidentally forget their back-pack in the yard or lunch room! Embelish it.Again, we're personalizing it, so you can use many different types of embellishment to make it fun and let your kiddos personality come out. If it was my backpack it would be completely bejeweled :) You can also show some school pride, by putting your school's button on it or an iron on patch. In our case Ayden didn't want to put any type of embellishment on his back-pack because it was already pretty busy with Pikachu's face, so we opted for number 3!!! What I would have used if we opted for this option. 3. KEYCHAINS.Last year Ayden got keychains for every event he attended in school and they were all on his backpack. I can hear him walking from a mile away because every time he walked, his keychains would jingle with him. I would let your child pick 1-2 of their favorite key chain to use on their backpack. Choose one that will not get them in trouble in class or distracted. Keychains are also a great accessory that can easily be swapped out through out the year to keep them excited about their backpack. His keychains last year, I had to limit him to 4!!!! Who doesn't like their things customized or personalized, I know I "personally" do :) Doing this customization process with your kiddo will get them super excited about the coming school year. They can be proud of their new back-pack and also give them a sense of responsibility in ensuring that they take good care of it because they worked hard on making it their own! You can also do this to their lunchbox. Here's to an awesome school year mommas!!!! Share with me some tips and tricks for this new school year in the comments below. How awesome is this pokeball lunch-box!!!
